Hi y’all!
Over the past few days, I’ve been working on some new changes for the site including a new look and moving the blog to the sleepinginairports.com server.
As I don’t always have the time needs to run this site by myself, I often feel I am doing you all a great disservice by not adding more to the site and blog. So, since I can’t always be here, I’m looking to add some contributors who are willing to add content when they have anything worth sharing with fellow travellers. Content could be as simple as a video link to Youtube, a newspaper article or lengthy as an article. If you like to travel, have a sense of fun and adventure, have been to an airport within the past year and know how to type complete sentences that will inform and entertain readers, send me an email telling me why you make a a good contributor to the sleepinginairports.com blog. Or better yet….leave a comment and let the readers decide.
Contributors will have their own profile that could contain a link back to their web site (as long as it doesn’t contain porn).
Once we get the blog on our server, I hope to have some great new contributors to share with everyone!

I must admit I haven’t had much time for the blog lately. I’m going to try to Twitter little blurbs and save the blog for photos and longer articles when they come in. If you have a twitter account, please add me.
Do you have a few minutes to help me with a travel survey? Where have you been? Where are you going in 2009/10?
It’s not airport related, but your help would be greatly appreciated?
If surveys are not your thing, but you know of someone who can help, the address is http://www.polldaddy.com/s/1F96D2C3F0DF35AA/
For many years sleepinginairports.com has survived and been able to grow by hawking text links to travel related companies vying for your attention. Unfortunately, times are a bit tough in the economy right now (you might have already heard…lol), so we will have no sponsorship next year. Add to this I will be unemployed in a few days. While this is good in that I will have tonnes of time to work on the site, I won’t have the cash to spend on the web hosting and other services like the polls, cartoons and programming upgrades to keep this site working and useful.
I realize you, as a site visitor, are not likely to be (a) swimming in cash or (b) willing to part with your money, since you are researching for ways to save money on hotels by sleeping in airports, but even a $1 donation could help. Consider….. that’s significantly less than a new “visa” in Kathmandu or a porters fees in Manila, and similar to the cost of toilet paper from a bathroom attendant in Cairo.
So if this site has helped or entertained you in anyway or if you don’t even know what site I’m talking about and just want to give away money, please considering making a donation to keep sleepinginairports.com up and growing. If you can’t make a financial donation, you also help by continuing to send in your stories, photos and talk about the site in forums and blogs. I really do appreciate that! :-))
Thanks and sweet dreams!
Donna
Davey, a long time friend of sleepinginairports.com and writer of a few memorable stories around here, sent me this photo and accompanying story last night. I wish he would sleep in more airports as his stories are always so funny. As promised, I’ve given him the black box of shame to disguise his identity. :-))
Although sadly I didnt sleep in any airports on my latest trip, owing to the fact protesters stormed (and occupied) Bangkok airport I was re routed via Hong Kong (or Honkers as we call it in Australia)
Because of this I was awake for almost 3 days (because I cant sleep on planes) and as soon as I got home I collapsed on the settee and slept for a solid 14 hours.
My delightful children thought it would be highly amusing to put an upturned pot of Sweet Chilli sauce on my head as I lay there in a jet lagged coma and watch gleefully as it slowly ran down the back of my head, not only ruining my pillow, but staining the collar on my favourite Aussie Rugby shirt.
They won’t be laughing Christmas morning when they find out I have sold all their presents on ebay and given their pet cat away to the cats home.
Revenge is such a great thing.

Less than 3 months ago, I started a page on Facebook to unite users of the site. I am so happy that we already have 283 members! YAY! If you haven’t already joined, please join today to begin sharing travel tips, ask questions, check out some photos and meet some cool people.
