I figure since I have been begging all of you for your airport pics, I might as well add a few of my own. This is me at Toronto Terminal 3 (US Departures) in September 2008. I found an empty gate and set up my camera. I wasn’t alone though as there were several security cameras on me as I shot this (I think I’m looking at one of the security cameras in this shot….lol). As you can see by the alignment of my photo here, I didn’t stick around too long to take more.

Now, back to the begging……please send me your airport photos. :-))
A recent article in the Toronto Star reveals that the federal government will soon be putting border officials at Toronto Pearson airport through sensitivity training “so they can more appropriately deal with Arab and Muslim passengers”. As much as I applaud the effort, why is this sensitivity training exclusive to Arabs and Muslims? I would recommend including a seminar on single female travellers as well. Just because I travel to South America frequently (including Colombia), doesn’t mean I am a drug mule, so stop treating me like one dammit!
No word yet on when major airports in the US will be conducting much needed sensitivity training towards ALL passengers….I suspect the ozone layer will be restored to its original state before we ever a successful program there.

Today is Canada Day, so in honour of our special day up here, I wanted to feature my “home” airport. I’ve never had to stay for any extended period of time, but if you go to Terminal 3, there are some padded benches down at the car rentals desk last time I saw.
There were a few entertaining reviews to choose from here, but as a way to make up for the disgusting Agadir review I posted yesterday, I decided to keep it clean. :-))
(Contributed by Chris) “As I had a very early flight out of Toronto I chose to save money on a hotel as well as a taxi and stayed the night at the airport. Considering I had shared rooms with homeless people at a hostel in Toronto the airport was actually a rather pleasant experience. Check-in counters had already closed (not that i think they would’ve let me check in anyway) so I wondered around the airport a bit and was pleased to see I wasn’t the only person staying the night. On this site I had read about the prayer rooms they have at Pearson Int’l. I checked them out and they look fine but I felt bad and chose not to sleep there. Instead, right outside the prayer rooms there are several seats without armrests which actually make an alright bed. It wasn’t the most comfortable bed ever but it was right infront of a staff security check point and a very nice security guard there promised she keep an eye on me and my stuff which made me feel a lot more secure. I told her the time I wanted to be woken up and 5 minutes prior to that time she gently shook me and off to check-in I went.” Added 05 Feb 06
Toronto is currently tied for first place on our online poll for the best airport in North America. This surprises me to be quite honest, but there is still time for results to change. Have you voted yet?
